Help With Writing Daily

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Have trouble writing posts on your blogs? Well me too, when I first started this blog I was hoping on writing at least one post every other day. With a goal of eventually writing one every day. I have always found writing blog posts to be a hard thing to do, my personal blog went over a year without a single post, that just gives you an example of how bad I am.

While searching on the internet today I cam across BlogClout that had a link to Writer, which I find simple yet amazing, and may actually help me with my goal of writing more regular blog postings. It is a simple site with a black background and green text, you type it saves your content, you can have multiple documents, has an auto save feature etc etc. Hit f11 and take it full screen and it cuts down on all the distractions on your start bar, everywhere its great! I plan on setting it as my start page for a while and see if that prompts me into writing more often, it may work it may not work but regardless it is an amazing site. Check it out

Few More Sites to Speak Of

Posted by Brian

Well in my last post I made an annoucement about PurePimps, in this post I am annoucing a few others. First of all I have had a directory site for a long time at http://dictyo.com now I have one more to add to the list http://dacoo.com.

Dacoo.com is going strong for its 2nd day being a website, just over 460 submissions and already one feature linked purchased. I consider that pretty good for just getting going. I plan on looking after Dacoo.com better than I did of Dictyo.com when I first created it. Hopefully the site will grow and start to bring me in a small revenue stream in featured links for a while, and hey maybe even a few bucks in Adsense a month.

Another site that I am in the process of launching is a mini info site Cold Remedies. Now this is not the usual type of site that I would normally be launching, but I have had the domain sitting around for a while after a purchased it in a bulk lot from a NamePros charity auction a while ago. It expires in December so I figured I would let it try to make a few bucks before then, hopefully it will and I will renew it for another year. If it doesn’t bring me in at least the registration cost though it will be going into the nether of the internet as yet another .info dropping domain.

Starting Again

Posted by Brian

Why did I start this blog? Well several reason I guess.. I wanted a place to document my success and my failures with MTF, ArcadeDog, and my other websites that I have yet to announce on this site. But there are other reasons as well, I thought this would be a way for me to stay motivated with the sites as well if I made a habit of posting once every few days (or every day would be great as well). I want my sites to be successful I am just afraid that I can’t get them to the level I want them to get to by myself. Do I care if people read this? No, not really if people do great they can come along for the ride, and maybe learn something along the way once I learn some stuff.

I need to once again start promoting MTF, I still have great hopes for the site. I just need to show it the love that it deserves. I think it can and will do great, it was doing wonderful before especially for a site that just started up. I need to get it back up to that level once again, and then beyond. When I first started MTF I was very excited and couldn’t wait to work on it, post on it, promote it. But now.. I just don’t know why I don’t have that same fire. I love the topic, very interested in the topic but just haven’t had the fire in me to go out and do those things lately. I need to get it back, and I need to get it back fast.

In other news, there is a new site of mine, well not really new, but new for me to be sole owner. PurePimps a site that I was one of the original members, then eventually became an admin on, is now mine. I was given the domain earlier today, and he is looking for the files now for me. I loved that site, and I want to get it set back up and going strong again for the hundreds (at one time thousands) of people that loved playing on that site. Just hope I haven’t bit off more than I can chew taking on yet another project at this time, when I can’t even give my current ones the attention that they need.

Updates and March Earning Reports

Posted by Brian

Wow its been a while since I last updated this, already falling behind what I originally wanted to be at least a weekly thing if not even twice weekly. So where to begin? Things have been moving slowly over on the MTF front, which I am largely to blame, I haven’t been as active as I should, nor have I been advertising as much as I should be for a new site such as MTF. I hope to make sure it gets a good kick off soon, I really want to see this site succeed, I think it can with get administration and a good solid base of users.

My earnings for March were down a little bit from February, which is sad, but I expected it to be this way. $70.13 was the total for March with Adsense bringing in the most, and http://arcadedog.com bringing in most of the revenue across all three advertising networks.

New Year, New Plans, New Hopes

Posted by Brian

Well though this isn’t technically the start of the new year, in fact it is almost a month over now. I thought I would start a developers blog to post about the sites I own and operate. First and foremost most of my sites are very small, and not very good. Over this year I hope to change that, and plan on focusing most of my efforts on one site, or one network of sites all focusing on “TalkFest”.

My newest site, and hopefully my biggest site ever MTF is a discussion board talking about movies, hollywood, and actors/actresses. I hope to get this site to a few thousand members before the end of the 2007. Do I think this site will be a huge success? Well not really, but I am holding out hope that it will be. I will be spending most of my free time promoting it, and trying to build it up into a great website. I hope to turn it into a mini IMDB. Now I know I can’t compete with them, as it is huge and a great resource, I just want to have something similar with a good user base to create a tight knit community with. Hopefully there will be a few cornerstones of the community that are very close, but I still have to have it inviting enough for the new user to feel right at home at MTF.

I already have my next site in the network planned out TVTF (http://tvtalkfest.com). I have already purchased the domain name for it, I am just waiting for MTF to get built up a little bit first before launching it. My plans for it are very similar as my plans for MTF, I want to turn TVTF into the next TVGuide.com. I am going to try and compete directly with them, I know that sounds foolish as they are a huge site and a good resource, but I simply don’t like the why it does things. So I hope to take it to the next level and be big player in the TV realm.

My plans are to use the same database for MTF, TVTF and future TF’s down the line. It will be a challenge to find a way to do this effectively, especially as the sites get bigger and bigger. I am using the forum software vBulletin, which in my opinion is the best forum/community software out on the market today. The only downside to using vB is the fact the licenses for it could get expensive as the network grows. Though I think the only license that will be hard to pull off is the license for TVTF since that is the second one. The others should come more easy as the network should be getting a fair amount of revenue coming in to pay all hosting bills and all licenses needed.

I have big hopes and dreams for this network of sites. I want to see them succeed and thrive for years to come. I will try to keep this blog updated with the newest news of the Talk Fest network, all my other sites, and other things that I find important. This will be my outlet to the world of my progress, my success, and my failures. I just hope there are more successes than failures.
