Unusual Phone Call

I received an unusual phone call this past Sunday evening, and the fact that it was on a Sunday, makes it even more strange to me. I had just got back to my car from dropping off Kristen at the airport, my phone rings and it shows up as an Indiana number. Now me not knowing anyone from Indiana was confused to why someone from there would be calling me, so I answered the phone and this is what I was greeted with.
“Hello this is Tim from GoDaddy.com, How are you today?”
Now at this point I was thinking to myself, why in the world is a GoDaddy.com representative calling me. The only thing I could think of was something must have messed up with my renewal of InMovieReviews.com that I placed on the previous day. The phone call was short which was good. It seemed as though he was calling just to see how my experience with GoDaddy was, and to see if I had any questions about products or services that they offered.
I will admit, it was kinda cool getting a call from a big company like that. But now I just have to wonder, why would they call me? I checked my Godaddy.com account when I got home, I only have 2 domains with them and here they spent the time to call me to make sure my experience with them was positive when they could have been spending that time and resources into making their service even better. To me it just doesn’t make since for a big company like that to spend the resources calling a customer with 2 domains, I could see if i had hundreds, or thousands of domains with them but only having 2 I just don’t get it.
Now having said that I do think GoDaddy is a great company for domain registrations, I simply don’t use them as my primary register. This might make me think about using them more often, at least it shows that they care about their customers, even If I do think it was a misuse of resources.

Well, maybe it’s fake phone call, someone just pretending to be from GoDaddy, just to prank you.
Possible?

I did think about that. Could be someone calling me just to check to make sure the whois info was correct. And if it wasn’t, they would probably report it, and then try to get the name for themselves.

That is weird, but maybe they have started calling people after they make a purchase with them (you renewed your domain) just to make themselves seem friendlier? Or maybe they just call a number of random people everyday to see how things are going.

Now what would you have done if it were one of us calling?
“Hello, this is cooliojones, and I just wanted to show my support for your website.”
If that happened to me I wouldn’t be blogging for a while, lol!

I would actually find that pretty cool if someone did that, would be weird but cool at the same time.
